Healing Palms Introducing Sound Therapy Workshops

It all started in 2000. I had just started massage school and my teacher was a Reiki master, which meant that we spent a solid amount of time learning about chakra balancing. She inquired if I was open to energy work, and having no experience with it, I replied with a simple, "Sure!" While she had me on the table, she ended up opening up my throat chakra. Never did or could I have imagined how life-changing that would be for me. Over the last 21 years, every wrong turn taught me a lesson and every right turn has brought me closer to my purpose. I know without a doubt that my calling is to guide people to understanding the power within themselves so that they may heal themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically while helping them understand the energy that is within them.

Chakras for Beginners

Health and wellness are at the forefront of everyone's mind, and your chakras are believed to be in control of you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. However, the force of the outside world can disturb your energy, causing your chakra to become underactive, overactive, or manifest the imbalance as a physical symptom. We want to see all of our patients feel their best by having balanced chakras and I like to work towards this through massage, crystals, and essential oils.

What is Equine Massage Therapy?

As a massage therapist, it's important that we stay up to date on the latest techniques and trends in the industry to ensure quality therapy. One way that we accomplish this is through Continued Education Units (CEUs), which is a contributing factor in keeping massage licensing updated. This year, to fulfill the CEU requirement, I took a trip to Oasis School of Animal Massage in Birmingham, Alabama to learn equine massage. While these massages are still being studied for the full scope of benefits to the horses, we have already seen that equine massage is great for pain relief, relaxation, improved circulation, and improved locomotor function for the horses. It turns out that humans and horses aren't as different as you may think when it comes to massage therapy.

Tips for Staying Hydrated

Everyone that knows me is aware of how much I love to talk about hydration, as it's a key component to our everyday health. I frequently have clients come in complaining of headaches and my first question is always, "How much water have you been drinking?" While clients initially say they drink enough water, I often learn that they only drink 16 to 24 ounces of water a day, which is only sustainable for people weighing 32 to 48 pounds! So many Americans live every day dehydrated, and it's my goal to educate and encourage others to take responsibility for their hydration.Enter your text here ...

Aromatouch Massage with Healing Palms

As I have spent time in the massage therapy and essential oil industry, I have learned so much about different treatments and how they are beneficial to the body. Thanks to doTERRA's AromaTouch technique, I was inspired to develop my own version of this treatment. This method uses eight different essential oils layered on the back and feet to create a sense of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Here's how it works!

Aromatouch is formed from five different treatments that I've learned over the years. These include Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Reflexology, and Swedish Massage.

Cupping Massage

What You Need to Know

Cupping massage therapy is different from traditional massage in that the therapist can do more work in a short amount of time. For example, if there is a really thick trigger point on the shoulder but we need to still work on the hip area, we can leave a cup on the shoulder to help break down that trigger point while we're doing other work on the body. After the cup is removed, you're getting to the deeper layers of the muscle versus trying to push into the body where people have pain - it facilitates the massage in a different way.
