Fall Potpourri

When Fall rolls around, most of us head right to the Apple Spice or Cinnamon for our go-to air freshner. Step out of your comfort zone this season with this sophisticated all-natural potpourri! 

You’ll need:

Orange peels
Dried apple slices
Cinnamon sticks
Bay leaves
Vanilla sticks
Cloves
doTERRA On Guard
doTERRA Ginger
doTERRA Cinnamon Bark

To make:

Put all of your ingredients into a bowl or container. Add 3-5 drops of essential oils to the top of your potpourri. Freshen it up with a few drops of oils as needed if scent fades.

DIY doTERRA Laundry Detergent

Try this DIY laundry detergent for squeaky clean, yummy smelling clothes!

You’ll need:

  • Baking Soda (5 lbs)
  • Washing Soda (2 boxes)
  • Borax (2 boxes)
  • Sodium Bicarbonate (32oz)
  • 5 ml dōTERRA Lavender Essential Oil
  • 2 ml dōTERRA Melaleuca Essential Oil

To make:

In a large jar or a paint bucket, mix all ingredients together.

Add 1-2 Tablespoon per load of laundry.

Lavender essential oil has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for nervous and anxious feelings. A study conducted on a group of nursing students showed a decrease in nervous and anxious feelings, as well as an increase in cognitive function when they inhaled lavender and rosemary oil before taking their exams.

Lavender can be a great alternative treatment for pain caused by sore muscles, sprains, backache and lumbago. Is your neck or back aching? A regular massage with lavender oil can help provide joint relief. In addition to topical application, a study on postoperative pain relief showed that a combination of lavender oil and oxygen significantly reduced pain levels versus patients who received oxygen alone.

Great Night’s Sleep

Research has shown that the relaxing scent of lavender eases nervous and anxious feelings and occasional sleeplessness. Frequent studies in elderly patients have shown an improvement in sleeping habits when sleep medications were replaced with lavender essential oil use. Achieve that sweet REM cycle by adding a few drops of lavender to your bathwater, spraying it on your pillow, or adding a little to an aromatherapy diffuser.

Lavender is commonly used to help ease, alleviate, mend, and relieve. It’s supports health, wellness, or structures and functions of the body like the brain, the heart, the liver, muscles and joints, the respiratory system, cognitive function, etc. The stimulating nature of lavender essential oil can also help loosen up the phlegm and relieve the congestion caused by respiratory illnesses. The vapor of lavender essential oil also has antibacterial qualities which can help battle infections.

Improved Circulation

Lavender oil can improve blood circulation by lowering blood pressure and is often used to help treat hypertension. With improved blood circulation, organs increase their levels of oxygenation and brain activity can have a noticeable boost. Skin appearance also improves with better circulation and remains bright and flushed. Improved blood circulation reduces the risks of a heart attack and atherosclerosis that is often associated with poor circulation. Soothing Face Scrub

Lavender can help restore skin complexion, reduce acne and slow the process of aging. For a simple DIY face scrub, fill a 4 ounce jar with plain oats and add 5-8 drops of lavender oil. Add water and voila! An all-natural face scrub.

Natural Cleaning

Lavender makes a great purifying, germ destroying, or naturally cleansing. Add 4-5 drops of lavender oil to vinegar for an awesome smelling natural cleaner. Lavender can also be added to laundry to make your towels and bedding smell nice!
