Water is crazy important to our body. Our brains are made up of 75% water. Our blood consists of 83% water (hence the reason we’re told to drink a bunch of water before we have blood drawn). Our bones are 25% water. Our lean muscle tissue as well as our skin – the biggest organ on our body – is 70% water.
Playing many important roles in the human body, water acts as a solvent, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, regulates temperature, lubricates joints, protects organs and tissues, and assists in flushing out toxins and waste. With how crucial water is to the overall function of our body, you’d think we’d all be chugging the stuff down!
However, the majority of the population is dehydrated. While the common recommendation is 8-12 oz glasses of water a day, we should actually be consuming half our weight in water. Yes, that is a TON of water. And you’ll need to add another 8 oz glass for every cup of coffee you drink, every cigarette you smoke, and each soda you sip. That adds up!
Passing on the H2O can lead to dehydration which can cause headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps, and a series of other body dysfunctions.
If you don’t like to the taste of water, try adding some doTERRA essential oil. Please note that not all oils are for consumption so it is uber important that you read the labels and follow the usage guides accordingly.

To mix: Start with 1 drop of the oil in the bottom of the glass and fill with water. Drink that cup down and refill with water. Drink down and then if you wish you can add another drop. Some people like to use 2-3 drops of an oil but everyone is different so use you judgement and listen to your body.
Be sure to drink your essential oil-infused water from a glass or steel cup. The purpose of essential oils is to break down the synthetic waste in your body and eliminate it. Drinking from a plastic cup or any other type of synthetic product slowly breaks down the product which in turn is gets released into the cup of water. YUCK!
Yes, you are going to pee a lot. Hello…you’re drinking HALF YOUR BODYWEIGHT in water. The good news is that you can start slow. Drinking too much water too fast can actually make you sick. Find out how much water you are drinking now and slowly add a few more glasses of water each day until you reach your goal. You can have a 32 oz container in the fridge and use that as a guide.
After a few days, you should notice some great changes in your body like an increase in energy, easier digestion, and healthier skin!
